13-21 reading review

1.  Katniss and Rue decide to bomb the supply fort of the career tributes in order to get food so that they wouldn't have to worry about their next meal. Rue brings up the fact that the career tributes don't need to worry about starving like she does because they already have all supplies and food. Katniss then comes up with the idea that they are going to attack their supplies and get what they want and need. They create three fires in order to distract the career tributes and be able to raid their forts while its unguarded. In result, Rue dies

2. Katniss decides to set out on a journey to find Peeta and afte realizing that he was probably by a water source, trying to survive, she goes there and finds him campflauged by the water after using his art skills to make it look so real and natural. They wander off into a cave and decide to stay there while she takes care of him and his injuries. During this time they put on a show for the audience watching the hunger games and their romance beings to rise and they grow closer - after all, they're all each other have.

"I spend the night half-sitting, half-lying, next to Peeta, refreshing the bandage, and trying not to dwell on the fact that by teaming up with him, I've made myself more vulnerable than when I was alone." (Pg. 263)

"Oh, right, the whole romance thing. I reach out to touch his cheek and he catches my hand and presses it against his lips." (Pg. 264)

3. Katniss decides to follow Claudius instructions, calling all tributes to a feast. Katniss gets attached by a knife thrown by a tribute form district 2. As her natural instinct, Katniss shoots her arrow but unfortunately misses. Her and the district 2 tribute end up on top of each other, fighting. Thankfully, there were another tribute just around the corner who threw a rock at the district 2 tribute and saved Katnisses life. In shock, she went ahead and got the bag, finding a hypodermic needle. 

""You better run now, Fire Girl," says Thresh. I don't need to be told twice. I flip over and my feet dig into the hard-packed earth as I run away from Thresh and Clove and the sound of Cato's voice." (Pg.288)


4. Without having a choice, Katniss ends up seeing Peeta in a way more than a friend. She had no one in the arena and Peeta was one of the very few who knew how she felt about being chosen for the hunger games. Because of this, I believe that her feelings grew for him and as for him, the same. Althoigh in the beginning, she neary hated Peeta. As she became desperate for someone to care for her, she had no choice but to like him. Of course later in the book, you can see that her feelings and care for him becomes sincere. The whole point of the hunger games is to kill everyone until you are the last one standing. She doesn't end up killing Peeta even though she had every opportunity to do so, this shows that she c
